TIRUCHI: Cable television feed remained suspended in the city on Sunday as cable operators went on a strike protesting the business strategy of the Sun TV in promoting the Direct-To-Home platform.

Sunday’s black-out came after the Tiruchi district unit of the Tamil Nadu Cable TV Operators Association decided to go on a 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. strike. Several parts of the city went without cable TV feed on Saturday also as the Sumangali Cable Vision’s cables were allegedly cut off in some places.

The Association members, at a meeting on Saturday, also decided to observe a fast in the City on Monday protesting the Sun TV move.

The DTH telecast would ruin the cable TV business, the operators said. Some of them stated that they were not opposed to the Sun TV’s DTH platform and insisted that the network should increase the monthly subscription.
