Coimbatore: Collector Neeraj Mittal has ordered the detention of B. Ravikannan (30) under Goondas’ Act.

The Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, G. Karthikeyan, recommended for the detention of Ravikannan since he was found to be an habitual offender involved in various cases of burglary, robbery and thefts at Tirupur North, South, Anupparpalayam, Mangalam and Perumanallur police limits.

The City Police Commissioner, C.K. Gandhirajan, has ordered the detention M. Yusuf (32) under the Goondas’ Act for a period of one year. He was arrested by the Kuniamuthur Police on June 20 on charges of having waylaid Mohammed Sherief (30) at Idayarpalayam junction on Palakkad road at knife point.

Four arrested

The police have arrested four persons leading to a breakthrough in five cases of chain snatching cases. Their arrest has also led to the recovery of five ‘mangal sutras’ weighing 22 sovereigns. worth over Rs 1.54 lakh.

The arrested were C. Sasi (19), I. Sadiq Ali alias Mohammed Jaffar Sadiq (20), K. Rakki alias Rakkiappan (20) and P. Anandraj alias Mohanraj (20). Two motorcycles have also been recovered from them.
