Tuticorin: Minister for Animal Husbandry P. Geetha Jeevan distributed 350 colour television sets to residents of Umarikottai village panchayat under Tuticorin Assembly constituency on Thursday evening.

Official source said that a total of 48,205 colour television sets had been distributed free of cost to as many beneficiaries under the government scheme in the district so far.

Of them, 7,729 were in Tuticorin Assembly constituency, 6,151 in Ottapidaram (Assembly constituency), 6,149 in Sattankulam, 4,980 in Srivaikundam, 5,718 in Tiruchendur, 7,379 in Tuticorin, 6,580 in Vilathikulam and the remaining in Kovilpatti constituency. Chairman of Tuticorin Panchayat Union V. Karunakaran, Tahsildar (Tuticorin) K. Velsamy and Block Development Officer Gomathi Shankar were present.
