MADURAI: Steps to bring in uniformity in syllabus and grades in universities have been initiated under the auspices of the Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education.

A preliminary meeting of vice-chancellors was convened in Chennai on Friday.

The State Government aims at achieving uniformity from the next academic year.

The changes have been suggested in the context of Choice-Based Credit System being implemented in various ways by universities and autonomous colleges.

Madurai Kamaraj University Vice-Chancellor P. Maruthamuthu told The Hindu on Sunday that the vice-chancellors were asked to suggest ways to bring in uniformity in university system.

According to G. Subramanian, Dean (Curriculum Development), MKU, the meeting deliberated on bringing about commonality in the credit-based semester system for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. tended the meeting.
