CHENNAI: Members of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cannot be cowed down by repressive measures, Jayalalithaa, general secretary, said here on Friday.

Noting that her party was prepared to face any harsh actions of the State Government, she said the party had been organising demonstrations and agitations all over the State to highlight problems of the people.

Those in power now were under the impression that the AIADMK workers would not participate in such programmes if they were jailed. But, the workers were brave and would fear none, she said, after presiding over the wedding of two couples at Thirumangalam near here.

She referred to the recent searches by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) on the premises belonging to the former AIADMK Minister B. Valarmathi and the arrest of several leaders in Tiruvallur district.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said the Government continued to harass her but she remained unperturbed.

Now, it had sought to shake the party.
