PUDUKOTTAI: Communist Party of India (Marxist) cadres has said the State-level picketing programme, scheduled for August 28, was aimed at impressing upon the State Government to check price rise, among other things.

At a street corner meeting at Keeranur, near here, on Saturday, they said the other demands included enactment of laws to safeguard the interests of agricultural labourers and the unorganised sector.

Kundradarkovil union secretary P. Maruthappa, district executive member K. Thangavel and organiser of the Democratic Youth Federation of India S. Gunasekaran were among those who spoke.
