TIRUPUR: Activists of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) observed a day-long fast on Monday here demanding Indian Oil Corporation to open an Indane agency on the southern parts of Tirupur.

The protesters said that the residents have been traversing up to 15 km to book a refill following closure of an agency on Dharapuram Road over alleged malpractices.

They demanded that the number of connections should be restricted to 5,000 per agency and the refill be given immediately after the booking. The activists urged IOC authorities to ensure adequate staff at agencies in order to mitigate the sufferings of the women.
