Observers have been deputed to grama sabhas

Krishnagiri: Poverty alleviation schemes and abolition of child labour would be the focus of discussions during the gram sabha meetings to be held in all the 337 village panchayats in the district on August 15.

Observers have been deputed to all the panchayats to monitor and aid in the smooth functioning of the gram sabha meetings, said Collector Santhosh Babu here on Sunday.

The list of beneficiaries coming under Below Poverty Line families should be placed before the meetings for approval.

Agenda

Besides presenting the budget for approval, the agenda is as follows: list out the development programmes proposed, identification of beneficiaries under the Indira Awaas Yojana, handling of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes, converting the collected garbage into manure, deepening of wells, conservation of water harvesting structures and enrolment of dropouts in schools run by Sarva Shiksha Abiyan.

The meetings would discuss usage of renewable energy sources, removing plastic wastes from all water bodies, disaster management and protection of child rights.
