VIRUDHUNAGAR: Students put an additional lock to the locked doors of a recently-upgraded middle school in protest against vacancies of posts of graduate teacher and headmaster at Kottaiyur near Watrap on Tuesday.

The protestors, including parents, relented after the officials promised to look into the issue at the earliest.

The Adi Dravidar Primary School was upgraded as a middle school in September 2005. However, there were only five teachers, including one graduate teacher. The students demanded that two more graduate teachers be posted. Besides, they wanted to fill the post of the headmaster.

Officials from the Education Department pacified the students and parents.
