TIRUCHI: Lawyers in Tiruchi have decided to withdraw court boycott and resume work from Thursday following the registration of First Information Report against a Police Inspector, a Woman Sub Inspector and a few others for “exceeding their brief” with a lawyer on the court premises recently.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the general body meeting of the Tiruchi Bar Association here on Wednesday. Presided over by its president M. Jesu Paulraj, the meeting thanked the judicial officers for extending their cooperation and moral support to the lawyers on the issue.

The lawyers had been boycotting the courts since July 23. The meeting also resolved to organise sapling planting within the court premises in a grand manner by extending an invitation to the Forest Minister N. Selvaraj.

The association condoled the death of the former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar at the meeting.
