‘Municipality neglecting the area in providing facilities’

TIRUPUR: Residents of Pethichettipuram and Anaimedu in Ward 27 here on Tuesday blocked the arterial Kumaran Road demanding basic amenities to their area.

They complained that the Tirupur Municipality was neglecting their locality in providing basic amenities. Members of Ambedkar, Janshirani and Gandhi self-help groups of Anaimedu said they could not even conduct meetings in the night as there were no street lights.

The residents said more than 200 families were residing in the area, but there were no street lights or storm water drains.

“We have been appealing to the successive Governments seeking house site pattas, but in vain,” says Maheswari, a resident. She said schoolchildren in the area were the most affected because of lack of light facility.

The demonstrators urged the municipal administration to clean the Anaimedu area and also put up street lights there.
