PERAMBALUR: Distribution of educational assistance to youths, dresses to new-borns, presentation of a colour television set to Bharathidasan University College and blood donation by the members of Rotary Club of Perambalur marked the installation of the club’s office-bearers here recently.

The outgoing president of the club, G. Babu, installed the new team led by D. Ramesh.

The former rotary district governor, M. Elangovan, inducted the members.

Polio eradication

The Collector, Anil Meshram, commended the service rendered by the Rotary International in polio eradication programme.

He also lauded the various clubs for their contribution in the uplift of the poor and downtrodden.

Mr. Elangovan explained the projects implemented by the Rotary International in health, education and creating basic infrastructure.

More projects

D. Ramesh promised more projects for the benefit of the weaker sections of society.

He said that the club has adopted Puthunaduvalur where it would implement sanitation, health, potable drinking water projects.

The Deputy SP, Srinivasan, the Chairman of Roever Institutions, K. Varadharaajen, the secretary of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Institutions, Neelraj, the charter president of Lions Club, Rajaram, and the president of Punnagai Mandram, S.M. Ramasamy, spoke.

The following were installed as the office-bearers: president, D. Ramesh; vice-president, P. Abimanyu; secretary, J. Karthik; joint secretary, S. Senthilkumar; treasurer, G. Radhakrishnan.
