Government grants Rs. 32.45 lakh to create the facility

NAMAKKAL: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan laid the foundation stone for the new water supply scheme to the Thattankuttai panchayat in Pallaipalayam block here on Sunday. Speaking in the function, the Minister said that the district administration would spend Rs. 32.45 lakh to create the drinking water facilities to the panchayat. The project cost included a sum of Rs. 2.95 lakh which was contributed by the public. The administration would source water from the Cauvery River and supply it to 21 habitations. The administration would complete the implementation of the scheme within October this year, the Minister said.

Later, the Minister declared open the new classrooms constructed at the Soudapuram Government Higher Secondary School. The classrooms were constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.50 lakh under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme. She also distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 27,000 to beneficiaries selected under various schemes.
