NAGAPATTINAM: ARC Shanmugham of Mayiladuthurai, Assistant State Commissioner for Scouts and Guides, Tiruchi region, who has received the President’s ‘Silver Star Award’ in recognition of his 25 years of meritorious service to the Scouts movement, will be felicitated at a function to be held in Mayiladuthurai on Sunday.

President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam presented the award to Prof. Shanmugham in New Delhi last week. The citation records Prof. Shanmugham’s contribution to the Scouts movement at the district, State and national level.

Prof. Shanmugham, 73, is still a visiting professor at the Loyola College, Chennai and in the AVC College in Mayiladuthurai. He was a recipient of the President’s ‘Seva Ratna Award’ presented by Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma a decade ago.

Prof. Shanmugham, an avid photographer, has authored several books including ‘Reference manual on photography’ and the ‘Guide book on still photography.’
