TIRUPUR: M.S. Sundara Rajan, Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Bank, has said that the bank would associate with the NIFT-TEA Knitwear Fashion Institute, promoted by the Tirupur Exporters’ Association.

Speaking at the Import Export Customer Meet organised by the bank at the TEA hall here on Friday, Mr. Sundara Rajan said that he would ask the heads of other banks to support the institute, which is being run on non-profit basis to help the industry in getting qualified professionals.

The TEA president, A. Sakthivel, asked bankers to contribute their mite to the institution.

He said that the banks in Tirupur were earning huge profits because of handling foreign exchange and a percentage of it should be allotted to the betterment of Tirupur. He said that the administration has inaugurated two hostel blocks to accommodate 225 students at a cost of Rs.2.8 crore.
