Rs.10.80 crore for school buildings in Perambalur
PERAMBALUR: High and higher secondary schools in the district with inadequate classrooms will get additional buildings during the current financial year at an estimate of Rs.10.80 crore, the Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, A. Raja said.
Speaking after declaring open the hostel constructed by the Backward Classes Welfare Department at an expenditure of Rs.31.50 lakh at Kodali Karuppur village near T. Pazhur recently, the Minister said that the higher secondary school in the village was one of the institutions selected under the programme. The school, he said, would get an additional block of 16 classrooms besides compound at a total estimate of Rs.86 lakh.
Mr. Raja also inaugurated the ‘All Village Anna Marumalarchi Thittam’ to be implemented in 65village panchayats in the district at an outlay of Rs.76.90 crore.
The Collector, Anil Meshram and the Andimadam MLA S. Sivasankar were among those who spoke.
The Union Minister also declared open three additional classrooms built under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) at an expenditure of Rs.6.45 lakhs on the occasion.
