A new college for media studies

An exclusive college for media studies and animation has been launched in Chennai. The college, named as Pan Asian College for Animation and Visual communication is affiliated to the Far Eastern University (FEU), Metro Manila, Philippines. The college will offer courses in the field of Digital Film Making, Visual Communication, Animation and Visual Effects. The syllabus for these courses, methodology of teaching and evaluation of the students will be guided by the FEU.

FEU, established in 1928, is one of the largest universities of Asia with about 50000 students at its Metro Manila campus. And Philippines is the most sought after place for animation outsourcing.

Courses of the Pan Asian College of Animation and Visual Communication have been designed in a unique manner so that the students will not only get the opportunity to handle digital production equipments but also learn the techniques of production and animation under the direct supervision of experienced professionals from the respective fields.

Since India is being looked upon as a computer based entertainment software and content producer of the future by Western media industry, Pan Asian College of Animation and Visual Communication has designed the courses to meet the employment requirements of the industry both at the national and at the international level.

It is interesting to note that the Indian animation industry is a US $ 360 million global industry and India would need about two lakhs skilled animators by the year 2010.

Faculty of the Pan Asian College of Animation and Visual communication includes television personalities and former professor of Visual Communication Rabi Bernard and Robert-Rajasekaran who has made evergreen movies like Oruthalai ragam, Palaivana Cholai, Chinna Poove Mella Pesu etc., and visiting professors from the Philippines.

E.S. Group of Educational Institutions, which is running Nationally Accredited and ISO certified college and polytechnic and a matriculation school at Villupuram, Tamilnadu has launched this new media college. Soon this will be expanded to many other cities in Asia.
