SIVAGANGA: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has called upon the goldsmiths to adapt innovative ideas fulfil the expectation of global traders and the customers worldwide.
He was distributing loans to goldsmiths at a function organised by the Indian Bank at Devakottai near here on Saturday.
He said that the global market was wide open for the goldsmiths too.
Their intricate work should cater not only to the Indian taste but also people living abroad.
If the products have a value addition, they would definitely hit the international market, he said.
Mr. Chidambaram said that besides loan facilities, special training for goldsmiths was provided to improve the quality of the products to meet international standards. They should also update their knowledge in using latest equipment, he said.
