A fundraiser for causes backed by Agarwal Mandal

Chennai: Colourful saris, jewellery and accessories were all part of a two-day fashion exhibition that opened here on Monday.

Voluntary service organisation Junior Agarwal Mahila Mandal is organising the exhibition at Hotel Taj Coromandel.

With 50 stalls, it is being held to raise funds for various causes that the Agarwal Mandal supports. C. K. Gariyali, principal secretary to the Governor and actor Sripriya were present at the inauguration.

The stalls showcased products from a number of cities, including Mumbai, Jaipur and Kolkata.

Junior Agarwal Mahila Mandal president Vandana Palsari said that such a fundraiser was being held every alternate year.

Last year, it raised 3.5 lakh and hoped to do the same this year, she added. Food coupons, a lucky dip and a raffle were held to add to the fundraising initiative.

The Mandal has 60 members and it supported schools as well as sponsored a girl child’s education every year.
