Against collection of exorbitant fees

CHENNAI: The Pattali Makkal Katchi on Monday staged a demonstration, protesting against private self-financing engineering colleges collecting exorbitant fees over and above the prescribed amount from students admitted under the Government quota.

PMK founder S. Ramadoss led the demonstration. Its president G.K. Mani, general secretary Balasundari, Member of Parliament A.K. Moorthy and party MLAs participated in the demonstration.

Noting that his party had been carrying on a campaign on the issue, Dr. Ramadoss said when the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was in power, his party had raised the issue. He faulted Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy for portraying a picture as if the issue did not exist.
