CHENNAI: Around 17,000 city students will appear for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) on Sunday. They will be part of the 27,000 candidates from the State, who will take the examination across 48 centres in Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore.
In Chennai alone, 29 centres have been allotted for the examination, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Joint Secretary M.V.V. Prasada Rao told The Hindu . The AIEEE, which is administered by the CBSE, enables lakhs of students to compete for admission into top-notch institutions across the country, including the National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
This year, 6.5 lakh students from all over the country will appear for the examination in about 100 centres across India.
The AIEEE comprises two papers. One covering mathematics, physics and chemistry will be held in between 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The second paper, for B. Arch aspirants, will be conducted between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
