Thanjavur: Grama sabha meeting will be held in all the 589 panchayats in Thanjavur district on May 1, said C. Vijayaraj Kumar, Collector, here on Saturday.

In a press release, he said the list of beneficiaries under government schemes and development works taken up in villages would be presented at the meeting for approval.

Works to be taken up under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam would also be discussed, besides, the National Employment Guarantee scheme details.

"Those who have completed 18 years of age are eligible for benefit under the scheme." Work would be given within five km of circumference from the place where the beneficiaries live.

Minimum wage of Rs.80 per day would be paid to those who got the work. The Collector appealed to the people, particularly members of women self-help groups, to participate in the meeting.


Gram sabha meeting would be held in all the 158 panchayats in Karur district on Tuesday, according to Collector T.N. Venkatesh. During the grams sabha proceedings, resolutions on the State Government's various development and welfare schemes and the list of beneficiaries for the schemes, Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, existence of individual lavatories under the Total Sanitation Campaign, conserving water bodies, rural energy, solid waste management, renovating drinking water sources, child labour eradication, participation of women self-help groups, etc, would be discussed, Mr. Venkatesh said in a press release issued here.
