An experienced distributor is the most sensitive line of interaction with the readers. Several aspects such as appeal of the newspaper can be learned by tapping the distributors' knowledge about various facets of readership, he said.

Recalling Mr. Adimoolam's association with The Hindu group of Publications, Mr. Ram said he has been the news agent for north Chennai since 1964 and has contributed to the long-term growth of the newspaper.

"His professional success lies in his ability to be objective, which enables him to stay equally close to the newspaper and to the public ... ," Mr. Ram added.

Messages from Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and eminent personalities of several publications and interviews of Mr. Adimoolam about his association with various newspapers were part of the souvenir.
