CHENNAI: The Indian Telugu Association based in Chennai is organising Telugu saint composer Annamayya's 599th anniversary celebration on May 2 in IIT Madras, Guindy.

Co-hosted by Telugu Samskruthika Samithi of IIT Madras and Silicon Andhra, USA, the celebration would have about 300 participants singing Annamayya keerthanas.

Indian Telugu Association founder president B. Nagesh said the function was organised for the first time in the city to commemorate the anniversary of the saint. Annamayya's 12th descendant Thallapaka Meena Lochani and Commissioner of Land Reforms V.Varaprasada Rao would participate.
