CHENNAI: Metrowater has proposed to take up major repair works at the Ellaya Muthali street junction of Vaithia Nathan Bridge in Tondiarpet from March 28 to 30. It is likely that sewage will spill over in several areas, including R.K.Nagar, Old Washermenpet, New Wahermenpet, Korukkupet, VOC Nagar and Royapuram. Metrowater authorities have proposed to use sewer lorries to remove the surcharge.
Hindustan College of Arts and Science celebrated its 12th College Day on Wednesday. Chief guest M.Mariappan, former vice chancellor of Bharathidasan University, suggested the college management introduce more courses such as Marine Science and Nanotechnology.
Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister K.R. Periyakaruppan on Monday chaired a meeting of the department officials to discuss the setting up of training centres for temple priests.
The meeting also reviewed the progress in temple development works and other schemes of the department.
Blood donation camp
The blood bank of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch, on Sunday conducted a blood donation camp at Sacred Heart Church, Pantheon Road, Egmore.
The camp was organised by Alex and Sathish of Sacred Heart Youth Movement.
