CHENNAI: An Indian Sloth Bear cub, about a month old, abandoned in Udumalapet forest area was rescued and sent to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, on Friday.

The zoo authorities said the cub had strayed closer to human habitation.

When the Forest officials at Udumalapet Range received information, they rescued the cub and sent it to the zoo.

The officials said as the animal had taken milk from its mother for about a month, it was healthy. The authorities were giving it skimmed milk powder. The cub has been housed in the quarantine area of the zoo.
