Bhagat Singh most popular among the participants

CHENNAI: Tiny look-alikes of national heroes teemed Oxford Bookstore on Haddows Road on Saturday.

Twenty-five children aged between five and 12 years participated in the fancy dress competition hosted by the bookstore under the theme `National Heroes'.

Bhagat Singh seemed to be the most popular national leader among the participants, with several of them dressing up like him.

A group of five children dressed as characters in `The Legend of Bhagat Singh', including Chandrashekhar Azad and Sukhdev Singh, impressed members of the audience.

A girl who donned the role of `Bharat Mata' stole the show. There were also look-alikes of other leaders such as Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. Every child went home with loads of gifts. Chandrabali Ghosh of Oxford Bookstore said the event was organised to mark Republic Day. The bookstore hosts events for kids for two hours every Saturday.

This week was dedicated to Republic Day celebrations.
