SIVAKASI: A magistrate court here on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant against the former Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, R.T. Inbathtamilan, after he failed to appear before the court.

The former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam district secretary and 19 other party cadres were accused of picking a quarrel with the then Sivakasi Tahsildar, Balu, when he tried to remove party flags from public places.

The flags were erected to welcome the former Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, for the Parliamentary election campaign in April 2004.

Mr. Inbathtamilan, for the second time, had appealed to the court to dispense with his personal appearance. But the Magistrate, Ayyappan, rejected the petition and issued a non-bailable warrant.
