Tiruvannamalai: As many as 192 farmers/agricultural labourers enrolled with Tamil Nadu Agricultural Labourers Welfare Board received benefits here on Tuesday from chairman of the board K.P. Ramalingam.
Mr. Ramalingam and vice-chairman of the board K. Chellamuthu reviewed the execution of ‘The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Labourers – Farmers (Social Security and Welfare) Scheme 2006’ in Tiruvannamalai district in the presence of Food Minister E.V. Velu and Collector M. Rajendran.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ramalingam distributed cash compensation to 65 heirs of accident victims (each Rs. 1,02,500), 69 heirs of members of the board who died naturally (each Rs. 12,500), marriage assistance to the wards of 58 members (Rs. 5,000 each for brides and Rs. 3,000 each for grooms).
Mr. Ramalingam told reporters that there are 6,88,833 members in the board in Tiruvannamalai district. Applications filed seeking enrolment in the board would be scrutinised and action taken to enrol candidates. “All members of the board would become beneficiaries under Tamil Nadu government’s new health insurance scheme. Tiruvannamalai district branch of the board has sufficient resources to fulfil claims of benefits and compensations from its members,” Mr. Ramalingam said.
