CHENNAI: The Hindu’s Newspaper in Education (NIE) programme will organise ‘To Teachers with Love…,’ a music programme for the teaching fraternity, on September 2.

Marking the Teachers’ Day, the celebrations will pay tribute to teachers for their contribution to the development of society. The musical evening will be held at the Music Academy between 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

‘Dhwani,’ a quartet of singers from Kolkata will perform at the event. The group has been conducting this concert for two years at Kolkata as a mark of tribute to teachers. The group comprises members trained in Indian and Western Classical, and their multi-lingual performances is a delightful representation of regional folk, traditional songs, Hollywood, Bollywood and Tamil film numbers. The concert will take audience into a nostalgic journey with the evergreen songs of McGuire Sisters, Andrews Sisters and Danny Kaye, according to a press release.

The show is organised for principals, teachers and other office bearers of schools in and around the city. Nearly 1,500 teachers from 250 schools from Chennai are expected to participate in the programme. The event’s Title sponsor is Linc Pens, Food and Beverages partners are Cheetos and Kurkure, TV partner NDTV Hindu and Radio partner Radio One.
