Young scientists

Chavara Vidya Bhavan organised “Scientia 2009”, a science talent show for the students to display their innovative exhibits related to Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science.

A release from the school said the exhibition gave a platform for the students to tap their creativity and widen their knowledge in the field of science, medicine and technology.

Mimicry show

Shree Vishnu Vidyalayaa Matriculation School organised Children’s Day celebrations at the school by having a Talent Show.

Students gave a talk on pollution, organised a musical performance, mono acting and mimicry show.


Angappa Educational Trust Senior Secondary School organised Children’s Day programmes at the school.

The school Principal K. Navamani urged the students to bring their talents and skills to the forefront. The students presented a cultural programme.

Kids expo

The UKG students of Vidya Vikasini Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated Children’s Day with a Kids Expo’09.

A live demonstration was organised by the school so that the children could share their knowledge in science with their parents.

An awareness session was held for parents on global warming and pollution.

Fashion parade

Teachers of Shri Meenaakshi Matriculation Higher Secondary School organised dances, quiz, speech, fashion parade and march past for the Children’s Day event. Students of class X and XII presented the teachers a copy of the poem “The Students Prayer” from an article on Abdul Kalam.

Inter-school contest

Prizes were given away on November 14 to winners of the Inter-school competition organised by the CMS Nursery and Primary School. About 1,500 students had participated in the competitions.

Flower Day

Flower Day was organised at Hindusthan Matriculation Higher Secondary School for the Nursery section and an English Communication Room was inaugurated for the higher section students.

The communication room would prepare the students for the linguistic tests.

Thirukural recitation

Kalaimagal Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated Children’s Day with competitions in translation, quiz, proverb telling and Spell B. Iswarya, a student of Class V, recited more than 50 Thirukural and the students gave a dance performance.

Newsletter released

Sri Ramakrishna Matriculation Higher Secondary School organised talks on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, National Integration songs, dances and mimicry. A newsletter “Sri Ramakrishna Moments” was released by V. Ramakrishnan, Trustee. A book and craft exhibition was also organised.

Treasure hunt

Students from the Montessori and the Grades at K’ Sirs International School participated in activities such as creating sand castles, alphabet treasure hunt, creating wealth out of waste and games.

Grooming kids

At a function organised at National Model Secondary School Dr. Pavai, paediatric surgeon, spoke about the role of mothers in grooming the children.

Project Day

Angappa Educational Trust Senior Secondary School organised Project Day with emphasis on “Doing by Learning”. Students presented projects on different subjects and parents were asked to judge the best ones.

The school also observed Vigilance Awareness Week from November 2 to 8 in association with the Syndicate Bank. Poster, painting and essay-writing competitions were held for the students. Charts prepared by the student showed the different ways of corruption.

Bicycle rally

NCC Day programmes were held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Ondipudur, on November 22. A bicycle rally was organised to create awareness on blood donation.

Diabetes awareness

Students of PSGR Krishnammal Higher Secondary School for Girls, Sri. Gopalnaidu Higher Secondary School and GRG Matriculation Higher Secondary School participated in a rally organised to create awareness on diabetes. The rally started at the PSGR School and ended at Radhakrishna Mills, Peelamedu.

Talent show

National Model Matriculation Higher Secondary School organised Kids Cultex – a talent programme – for students of the primary classes. Competitions and cultural programmes were held as part of the event.

Flag hoisted

Sainik School, Amaravathinagar, celebrated NCC day with patriotic fervour on November 22. The functions began with hoisting of tri-colour by Colonel J.H. Samuel, principal of the school, followed by ceremonial parade.

As part of the celebrations, the Sainik School cadets took out a cycle rally from the school premises to Kurichikottai village covering 30 km.

En route, they sensitized the residents of wayside villages of the importance of iodised salt intake. The NCC day celebrations concluded with the prize distribution ceremony.

Athletic meet

Subbiah Matriculation Higher Secondary school hosted the first athletic meet organised by the Tirupur District Masters Athletic Association recently. In all, 72 persons took part in the event.

Science expo

Ramu and Deepak, class nine students of Diamond Jubilee Hr. Sec. School, Gobichettipalayam, won the first prize in the State-level

Science Exhibition organised in Periyar University recently.

A release from the School says the students secured Rs. 2,000 in cash,

a certificate and shield at the event, jointly organised by the Scientific Tamil Mandram of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the

University. T. Thangaraj, vice chancellor, presented the awards to the students.

In recognition of the boys’ efforts District Education Officer, Gobichettipalayam, R. Kaliannan, K.K. Dhakshinamoorthy, secretary, Diamond Jubilee Hr. Sec. School, and P.R. Palaniswami, Headmaster, and teachers appreciated the boys.
