Work will be completed within four to five months, says Mayor

SALEM: The Salem Corporation has commenced the works to give a complete face-lift to the Nehru auditorium located at Bose Maidan here on Wednesday.

The civic body allotted Rs. 1 crore to carry out the maintenance and renovation works in the auditorium, which was built on a 37,000 sq. ft land in 1964.

The building did not witness any maintenance works after 1975. The successive councils had not allotted funds to improve the auditorium. When this issue was taken to the notice of the present council, funds were allotted for its renovation in the last budget.

After inspecting the auditorium, Mayor J. Rekha Priyadarshini said that the works would be completed within four to five months. Senior officials accompanied the Mayor.
