MADURAI: Southern Railway has cancelled train services between Tirunelveli Town-Shencottah sector with effect from January 1, 2009 consequent to the closure of Tirunelveli Town-Tenkasi metre gauge section for gauge conversion.
Train No. 747/742 Tirunelveli Town-Shencottah-Tirunelveli Town passengers would be fully cancelled, a statement said.
Train No. 741/748 Tirunelveli Town-Punalur-Tirunelveli passengers are partially cancelled between Tirunelveli Town and Shencottah only. These trains would run between Shencottah and Punalur.
Similarly, Train No. 743/750 Tenkasi-Punalur-Tenkasi passengers are partially cancelled between Tenkasi and Shencottah only. These trains would run between Shencottah and Punalur.
Following the cancellations and partial cancellations of the above trains, the timings of train services between Punalur and Shencottah have been revised:
Train No 744 would leave Punalur at 9 a.m. and would arrive Shencottah at 11.05 am. Train No. 746 would leave Punalur at 1 p.m. and reach Shencottah at 3.25 p.m.
Train No. 748 would leave Punalur at 3.30 p.m. and reach Shencottah at 5.50 p.m. Train No. 750 would leave Punalur at 6.05 p.m. and reach Shencottah at 8.20 p.m.
Train No. 741 would leave Shencottah at 9.50 a.m. and reach Punalur at 12.05 p.m. Train No. 743 would leave Shencottah at 6.30 a.m. and reach Punalur at 8.35 a.m.
Train No. 745 would leave Shencottah at 11.45 a.m. and reach Punalur at 2.00 p.m. Train No. 749 would leave Shencottah at 3.35 p.m. and reach Punalur at 5.40 p.m.
