TUTICORIN: The fifth expert committee for developing a mechanism for effective technology transfer held its meeting on Sunday at the Agricultural Research Station, Kovilpatti under the chairmanship of S. Kannaiyan, Professor and former Vice-chancellor, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), and chairman, National Biodiversity Authority.

The other Committee Member which accompanied him was R. P. Singh, former Vice-chancellor, Faizabad Agricultural University.

Mr. Kannaiyan, stressed the need for transfer of technology and need for supply of good quality seeds to farmers.

He said that, in the near future, a severe food crisis along with financial problem would be encountered the world over. The problem would be more severe in Asian countries. Dry land agriculture must be given emphasis for increasing yield. In India that the Bt crops must be given a thrust.
