CHENNAI: Special police teams on Sunday arrested four more students of Dr Ambedkar Government Law College in connection with the clash among students last Wednesday.

Eleven students have been arrested earlier out of which seven are already in prison and one has been admitted to the prisoner’s ward of the Government Royapettah Hospital, after being injured in the clash. Police sources said third year students Gopalakrishnan (23) and Ilamugil (22) were arrested from Senkottai and Chennai early Sunday. Prem Kumar (23) and Ilayaraja (22) were picked up later in the day from their homes in Villupuram and Ulundurpettai respectively.

The first two accused were produced before a Magistrate in Saidapet on Sunday afternoon along with Raja (18) and Sivakadiravan (23), who were detained on Saturday.

The four students were remanded to 15 days’ custody. Raja and Ilamugil were later lodged at the Saidapet sub jail while the other two were taken to the Puzhal Prison.

Another accused Premnath (20), who was arrested earlier in Thanjavur, was also remanded to custody on Sunday evening after preliminary investigation.

Police also said Prem Kumar and Ilayaraja, who were detained finally in the day, were likely to be produced in court Monday morning.

The 25 special police teams formed are still on the hunt throughout the State to nab rest of the students involved in the brutal clash inside Dr Ambedkar Government Law College campus on November 12.
