KRISHNAGIRI: A cultural competitions for schoolchildren will be held at the District Government Music School situated at Katikanapalli on Bangalore High Road in Krishnagiri on November 5.
The dance, drawing and singing competitions in the age group of 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16 will begin at 10 a.m.
Children who come first in the age group 9-12 and 13-16 will be sent to Chennai to participate in the State-level competition. Those who participate in singing competition can sing carnatic, national songs, songs which creates social awareness and folk songs in Tamil. Each singer will not be allowed sing beyond three minutes. Children are not allowed to sing western music, film songs and group songs.
Children who participate in the dance festival are allowed to dance Bharatham, Tamil folk dance, Kuchipudi and Mohiniatttam. The participants are asked to come with full make up. Dancing for film songs and western music will not be allowed. Maximum time limit for dance competition will be 5 minutes. Children participating in drawing competition should bring 40X30 cm drawing paper. The paintings can be in pencil, cryons, colour pencils, poster colour, water colour. Participants should bring all the above things with them. All the participants will be issued certificates, according to the release issued by P. Hemanathan, Regional Assistant Director, Culture Department, Salem.
