CHENNAI: Puthusseri Ramachandran has bagged the ‘Asan Smaraka Kavitha Puraskaram 2008’ instituted by the Asan Memorial Association to honour overall contributions to Malayalam poetry.

Announcing this at a press conference, association representatives C.G. Rajendra Babu and C.K. Revi said a three-member jury unanimously chose Mr. Ramachandran for his decisive contributions spanning poetry, study of ancient Malayalam verse, translation of African poetry and scholarship in linguistics. The poet was nominated for the 23rd edition of the annual award from three nominees shortlisted from a poll involving over 70 poetry enthusiasts.
