CHENNAI: Two persons were arrested here on Thursday for allegedly giving a false complaint to the police that they were being forced to vacate a property on Valluvarkottam High Road at the behest of Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veerasamy.

A. Ezhil (33) of K.K. Nagar, who claimed to be an advocate, gave a petition to the Commissioner of Police on Tuesday that the Minister was forcing the land owner Murugesan, to vacate.

Investigations revealed that Murugesan was only a watchman and had made an attempt to take over the property through fraudulent means, the police said. Based on a complaint from the Minister that he had nothing to do with the property and that an attempt was being made to tarnish his image, the police arrested Murugesan and Ezhil. On a complaint preferred by C.S. Chandrasekhar (45) of T. Nagar, the owner of the property, the police also arrested Murugesan’s sons M. Ezhumalai (33), M. Rangan (30) and Kumar (33), a car driver.
