THANJAVUR: T. S. Kalayanasundaram, Headmaster of Oriental Higher Secondary school at Thanjavur has received the ‘National Best Teacher Award - 2007’ from the hands of Pratibha Patil recently. Prior to this he got the state level Dr. Radhakrishnan best teacher award in 2005. He got the award from the state education minister then. Mr. Kalyanasundaram has come a long way ever since he joined the school as a science graduate teacher in 1976.

He rose to the level of Head Master in 1989. Known for his strictness as well as his humanism, he has earned many laurels for the school. As a science teacher and Head Master he could ensure hundred per cent passing out in science in the last 28 years. The school got state first twelve times in the subject during his service.

The secretary of the Oriental Higher Secondary school, S. Kunjithapatham organised a felicitation for Kalayanasundaram at the school recently. Adviser of the school S. V. Santhanaraman, chairman of the school, V. Rajappa, V. Kalyanaraman, Head Master of Kalyanasundaram HSS, Uma Parvathi, Principal of Kamala subramaniam Matriculation HSS, Thyagaraja Sharma, retired English professor, K. Padmanabhan of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Manimozhiyan, retired Head Master of Veeraraghava HSS, Jayshankar, Principal of Venkateswara Matriculation HSS offered their felicitations.
