TIRUNELVELI: The south regional conference Thamil Nadu Brahmin Association (TAMBRAS) will be held in Nagercoil on September 14, in which over 25,000 members of the community are expected to participate, coordinator of the programme, S. Sankaranarayanan has said. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Sankaranarayanan said that since the State housed over 45 lakh Brahmin population, they should be given 15 per cent reservation in the education and employment opportunities.

To raise this demand, the conference was being organised in which State president of the organisation N. Narayanan, former Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan, Balaprajapathi of Ayya Vazhi, president of Kerala Brahmins Association Venkatraman and former MLA H. Raja are likely to participate.

A rally would be taken out from Vadaserry to Nagaraja Grounds, where the conference would be held. He said the construction of the memorial for Vanchinathan, for which foundation stone was laid by late K. Kamaraj, should commence immediately.

Tirunelveli district president of the association K.S. Sundaram Iyar, general secretary S. Venkatachalam were present.
