Over 600 students from 25 schools participate
TIRUCHI: Like in past years, Campofez, an inter-school Cultural and Games Festival of Campion Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, featured awe-inspiring performances by the participants.
The State-level fest, which concluded here on Saturday, saw participation of more than 600 students from 25 schools.
Vice-Chancellor PRIST University, Thanjavur, S. Mohan inaugurated the fest. In his address, he said that students should actively take part in extracurricular activities. Dr. Mohan observed that participating in such fests would give students confidence.
The three-day Campofez had some interesting events like ‘Literary pageant,’ ‘Trailer of an imaginary English movie,’ ‘Spell bee’ and ‘Wealth from waste’ that nurtured creativity in students.
Dance and music competitions enthralled the audience. In sports, events were conducted in various disciplines including basketball and hockey that saw school teams giving their best to secure the top honour.
It was no cakewalk for the winners as they had to overcome some challenges from the competitors.
Chief guest for the valediction film director Dharani felt that such cultural festivals help in bringing hidden talents to the fore and urged the students to continue participation in such events on a regular basis. “Make full use of the opportunities available and equip yourself with the necessary skills to fulfil your ambitions,” said Dharani, who wielded the megaphone for super hit films like ‘Dhil,’ ‘Dhool’ and ‘Ghilli.’
The host won the overall championship in the cultural segment.
R. K. Siddharth of Campion and Sanjnaa Ramanan of Montfort School were adjudged ‘Mr. Campofez’ and ‘Miss. Campofez’ respectively. Mr. Dharani gave away the prizes in the presence of Principal Bro. Jesuraj, Vice-Principal Bro. David and staff members of the school.
