Bhopinder Singh hoists flag at Netaji stadium

CHENNAI: The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bhopinder Singh, on Friday hoisted the tricolour at the historic Netaji stadium at Port Blair.

He inspected a guard of honour and presented medals, rolling trophy, gallantry awards and commendation certificates.

The Lt. Governor also visited the National Memorial Cellular Jail and laid a wreath at the martyr’s column.

Contingents of the police, paramilitary, defence, scouts and guides, National Cadet Corps and schoolchildren took part in the march past, according to an official release.

Addressing the people, the Lt. Governor called upon them to rededicate themselves to the task of nation building.

He highlighted the achievements of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration and the initiatives taken for faster development.

A get-together was organised at Raj Niwas.
