Sattankulam constituency ceases to exist
Tuticorin: The first draft photo electoral rolls for the new Assembly constituencies in the district arising out of delimitation, were published by the district administration.
Official sources told The Hindu here on Tuesday that accordingly, there were 8,97,284 electors (4,62,811 female and 4,34, 473 male).
With the realignment, Sattankulam constituency ceased to exist reducing the total number of Assembly segments in the districts to six. While Tuticorin constituency has the highest number of electors, Ottapidaram has the lowest number of electors among the six.
Segment wise, there were 1,55,842 voters (79,903 female and 75,939 male) in Vilathikulam, 1,62,934 (81,447 female and 81,487 male) in Tuticorin, 1,53,422 (80,966 female and 72,456 male) in Tiruchendur, 1,52,892 (81,397 female and 71,495 male) in Srivaikundam, 1,34,436 (68,224 female and 66,212 male) in Ottapidaram and 1,37,758 (70,874 female and 66,884 male) electors in Kovilpatti Assembly constituencies.
The draft rolls would be available at Collectorate, offices of Revenue Divisional Officers, municipal offices, taluk offices and polling stations for verification of voters. The left out voters, if any, should enroll their names in Form 6, including fresh inclusion and shift of residence from one Assembly constituency to another, before the exercise of deletion and addition of names ends on July 31.
The electors should use Form 8 to make any correction in the elector’s data figured in the draft rolls. The final photo roll was expected to be brought out on August 31, the sources added.
