CHENNAI: The Saidapet police on Sunday arrested seven persons in connection with a murder on Wednesday night at T.P. Chathiram.

According to the police, C. Suresh Kumar was murdered to avenge the murder of Sekar, in 2003 in the same area.

The police suspect that Suresh Kumar’s murder had been planned by Krishnaveni, a ganja seller who is now in jail. In 2003, a group of persons belonging to a rival group had killed Sekar, her son. In retaliation, she had allegedly plotted the murder of Suresh Kumar. The police gave the names of those arrested as Dhanraj, Ezhil, Moses, Ayyappan, Sudhakar, Senthil and Boopathy. The arrested persons are daily wage earners, all residents of T.P. Chathiram.
