No traffic will be allowed at the junction of Mudichur, GST roads

The new system will come into force tomorrow

CHENNAI: A new traffic arrangement near the Mudichur Road Junction on Grand Southern Trunk Road will come into force on Saturday, owing o the ongoing road overbridge work in the area.

Giving details, a release from the Chennai City Traffic police said vehicular traffic would be totally closed at the Mudichur Road-GST Road junction. The other arrangements would be as follows:

From Irumbuliyur to Tambaram

There would be no change in the route to be taken by vehicles from Irumbuliyur Bridge bound for Tambaram on GST Road and those from GST Road to Irumbuliyur.

But, vehicles from Irumbuliyur bound for Selaiyur should take the Tambaram railway gate and Velachery Main Road.

Those proceeding to Mudichur Road from Irumbuliyur should take the GST Road, Tambaram bus stand and turn left into Rajaji Road, Gandhi Road and take the Kakkan Road to join Mudichur Road.

Chromepet-GST Road

Vehicles coming from Chromepet and intending to proceed to Gandhi Road have to proceed up to old check post on GST road and take a ‘U’ turn and pass through Rajaji Road to reach Gandhi Road.

Vehicles from Chromepet towards Selaiyur on GST Road will have to take the Tambaram railway gate to reach Velachery Main Road.

Mannivakkam side

Vehicles coming from Gandhi Road, Mannivakkam and Kishkinta side and bound for Chromepet should take Gandhi Road and turn left into GST Road.

Those vehicles coming from Mannivakkam side intending to proceed towards Irumbuliyur and Selaiyur should take Gandhi Road, take a left turn in to GST Road and then take a ‘U’ turn at GST Road near Radha Petrol bunk and proceed as usual.

One way

To ensure free flow of traffic, Mudichur Road, Gandhi Road, Kakkan Road and Rajaji Road have been declared ‘one way’.

Under the proposed arrangement, on Mudichur Road vehicles would only be permitted from Kakkan Road-Mudichur Road junction.

No vehicles would be allowed from Gandhi Road-Mudichur Road junction towards GST Road.

On Gandhi Road, the entry for vehicles would be from Mudichur Road junction and it would be ‘no entry’ for them from Kakkan Road-Gandhi Road junction.

On Kakkan Road, vehicles would be permitted from Gandhi Road junction and it would be ‘no entry’ from Mudichur Road junction.

On Rajaji Road, the entry would be from GST Road. It would be ‘no entry’ from Gandhi Road junction.
