CHENNAI. The city police on Monday arrested three persons on charges of stealing 10 motorcycles in the Elephant Gate area.

Police said a special team formed to investigate frequent thefts of two-wheelers intercepted a youth who was trying to open the lock of a moped. On seeing the police, he tried to escape. However, police apprehended the suspect who was identified as V. Jeeva (22) of Alwarpet.

During an interrogation, he confessed that he, along with M. Ravi (25) and T. Vinod of Vyasarpadi, had stolen 10 motorcycles. The trio lodged in the Puzhal prison in connection with a theft case was released about 15 days ago. They were produced in a city court and remanded to judicial custody.
