CHENNAI: M. Ramadoss, Pattali Makkal Katchi Member of Parliament, in a response to The Hindu’s editorial ‘Falling out in Tamil Nadu’ (June 19, 2008), said the PMK had been singled out for switching sides while almost all political parties in the country had switched camps several times in the past.

In the present case, the PMK had not estranged its alliance with the DMK, but was forced to come out. It was a loyal ally in any alliance in which it has entered and worked for the victory of the alliance. “It is true that the PMK has publicly opposed some of the policies and programmes of the DMK government, but that opposition emanated from its desire to protect public interest and they were all in the nature of constructive criticism,” Prof. Ramadoss said.
