TAMBARAM: A 28-year-old man was clubbed to death allegedly by his neighbour in Sithalapakkam near Tambaram late on Wednesday night.

The victim, Madan, was a resident of Narasimhan Street, Indra Nagar, in Sithalapakkam. Kumar (30), a supervisor in a granite quarry, and his wife Latha (26), were Madan’s neighbours. The couple, however, were not living together for some months owing to differences, the Pallikaranai police said.

On Wednesday, Kumar came to Sithalapakkam and fought with Latha. When Madan tried to intervene, an enraged Kumar hit him with a cricket stump. Madan sustained serious injuries and began to bleed profusely. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Kumar fled to the granite quarry and was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
