CHENNAI: The body of a man, who went missing from Avadi over a month ago, was found in Vellore.

According to the police, Raghavan, a resident of Bhavani Amman Koil Street, Avadi, had gone to Vellore to take up the job of a car driver on April 11.

He called his mother from Vellore to tell her that he was taking up the job but was not seen after April 12. When there was no news from him, his mother lodged a complaint on May 1.

She gave details of the mobile number from which Raghavan had made the call. When the police traced the number, they found Raghavan had been killed and his body preserved in the Vellore Government Hospital.

Interrogation of the owner of the phone led the police to Meghanathan and Stephen, who had asked Raghavan to come to Vellore with the offer of a job.

The police said Meghanathan had hacked Raghavan to death. They had a quarrel several months ago. On the day of the incident, Meghanathan, Stephen and Raghavan consumed liquor after which Meghanathan, a native of Vellore, had invited the two men to his house.

Meghanathan picked up a knife and went out with Raghavan for a walk. While Raghavan walked ahead, Meghanathan attacked him from behind.

Later, he and Stephen dragged Raghavan to a burial ground nearby and killed him.

The police said Meghanathan, who confessed to the crime, had been arrested.
