KARAIKAL: M. Sivasakthi of Karaikal Ammaiyar Government Aided High School, Karaikal, secured the first rank in the Tenth Standard public examination in Karaikal district in the Union Territory of Puducherry this year by scoring 488 marks out of 500.

S.Sivaranjani of Nirmalarani Girls Higher Secondary School, Karaikal, secured the second rank in Karaikal district by scoring 487 marks out of 500.

N.Jagan of Servite High School, Kottucherry, secured the third rank by scoring 485 out of 500 marks.

According to G. Palani, Chief Educational Officer, Karaikal district, the district had achieved a pass percentage of 79.49 this year which is 2.41 per cent more than previous year.

Out of 2,984 students (1,485 boys and 1,499 girls) appeared for the examinations, 2,372 candidates (1,122 boys and 1,250 girls) came out successful. He said that the Hussiniya Government High School and nine private high schools had achieved cent per cent pass this year. As many as 131 students secured centum in mathematics, three in science and one in social science in Karaikal district.
